We also have a highly dedicated team of staff across all of our regional depots. Each of whom adds to our overall skillset and knowledge base and ensures that Total Resources (UK) Ltd continue to meet and exceed our client’s requirements as we grow and develop the business operation.

Les Thompson

MD Total Resources (UK) Ltd

Les has been in the industry for over 28 years and during this time he has covered every aspect of highways management. Consequently, Les has significant experience across the whole industry and has brought this experience to Total Resources to ensure its commercial success. Les began his career in traffic management when he established a new depot in Gateshead for LUX Traffic Controls and developed it into the most successful Depot in the UK. Les eventually moved on to New County Road Surfacing and once again proved to be highly successfully. Following this success, Les was then headhunted by Roadsafe (UK) Ltd to set up a new highway/traffic management operation across the North East of England.

Les is a highly skilled individual who has worked his way up through the industry and is now heading up one of the fastest growing companies in the North of England. Highly driven to make Total Resources a success, Les brings a wealth of highways experience to the table through which to develop and grow the organisation across the UK.

Our People

Our highly qualified and motivated team offer exceptional service provision, with a level of expertise, quality and cost effectiveness that places Total Resources at the forefront of our industry. We have pro-actively recruited a team of qualified personnel who are accredited under Lantra Awards, the governing body. Comprising of Traffic Management Operatives, Supervisors, Foremen and Traffic Safety and Control Officers, we ensure all our operatives are trained to industry standards, as well as promoting a continuous training development programme of refresher courses to maintain the required standards. This training is provided through our in-house Training Department to ensure we operate to the highest standards. Their career experience includes taking charge of some of the largest and most complex traffic management schemes in the UK and backed up with a safety record that is second to none.

Paul Thompson

Boldon Tyne and Wear Depot

Paul possesses over 28 years traffic management experience, having worked his way up from trainee to managing his own depot. Across his career Paul has worked on several major schemes but most recently he has been involved in the construction of the prestigious new River Wear Bridge Crossing in Sunderland. This is a landmark development in the Region and Paul has been instrumental in the planning, design and implementation of all the traffic management schemes to allow the safe construction of the bridge and the new highway development. Paul is also accredited to all sector scheme modules and also holds qualification in respect to IOSH Health & Safety, First Aid and Fire Marshalling. Paul’s front line management of the Birtley Depot requires significant expertise in the day to day management and planning of the operation to ensure that the traffic management division delivers a quality service.

Craig Beckett

Leeds Depot

Craig has over 18 years’ experience within traffic management having worked his way up through the ranks from operative to Depot Manager, the position he holds today with Total Resources. Possessing experience which incorporates high speed and urban roads as well as management and design. Craig was also part of a team that built and managed the construction of the M62 A1 new road and widening at Ferry Bridge. Other significant projects and contracts that Craig has managed include SSE, Yorkshire Water, Murphy, Northern power Grid, Morrison, Northern Gas Networks and more recently Severn Trent Water. Craig is also LANTRA and IOSH qualified, holds a TSCO card and full first aid certification. Craig affords a broad remit of expertise to the senior management team of Total Resources.

Alan Ball

National Sales Manager

Alan’s career in the industry has spanned more than 20 years, the majority of which has been within a management capacity. Having held responsibilities covering Depot Management and national sales account management, Alan has successfully grown the account base for which he has held responsibility across the companies in which he has worked. Such developments have comprised bringing on board major accounts such as Balfour Beatty, BT and the National Grid. Alan therefore brings considerable experience and knowledge to the Total Resources Group and has already been instrumental in developing our Nottingham Depot in terms of both operatives and business contracts won, having already assisted in winning a major contract with Severn Trent Water.

Garry Ibbertson

Nottingham/ Mansfield Depot Manager

Garry is LANTRA qualifed and has over 10 years experience within traffic management, he started as a trainee and has worked his way to Depot Manager. He managers the projects & contracts at the Mansfield Depot, building relationships with our clients such as Severn Trent Water, Bentleys, National Powe Grid, Kier, Morrison & Wester Power. Garry was also part of a team that managed the construction the A46 and many other major schemes .

Adam Cloherty

Liverpool Depot – Manager

Adam has over 10 years’ experience within traffic management
He started as an operative working his way up in various traffic management companies.
which sees him in his role as a depot manager today.
Where he manages the day to day running, liaising with clients such as Clancy Docwra,
SSE, Aptus Utilities, Utilitec and MJ Quinn.
He is also over seeing a junction improvement on the A580 Haydock for our latest new customer
I&H Brown.
Adam is building up his depot expanding all the time with new clients.

Jo Aitchison

Finance Officer

Jo joined Total Resources (UK) Limited in 2015 as Finance Officer and quickly became an integral part of a great team, helping enormously to grow the company into the successful business that it is today. Jo has brought substantial financial experience to the business. Experience which incorporates some 25 years’ experience in the field of accounts, having worked her way up to Assistant Financial Controller whilst employed by De Vere Hotels before moving to the North East in 2006. Further invaluable experience was acquired with Loan Finders UK Ltd and Admec Municipal Services Ltd. Total Resources are glad to have Jo on-board and for her to bring her vast experience to the company.

Steph McLean

Company Accountant

Steph is a recent acquisition to the Total Resources team. Joining us as our Company Accountant, Steph is an extremely motivated CIMA qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, which has resulted in her acquiring vast experience in all aspects of financial accounting. Steph joins Total Resources from Michell Bearings, part of the of Rolls-Royce Power Engineering group of companies, where she was employed as Finance Manager for the past 5 years. Previous employers include Arc International Cookware, OSG Ship Management UK Limited and Proctor & Gamble.
We are highly pleased to have appointed Steph and welcome her to the Total Resources team.

Janine Johnson

Payroll Manager/Senior Accounts Clerk

Janine has been with the company since April 2016, working in the accounts department. Her main role is mainly dealing with payroll and invoicing but she also assists with other office functions as cover. Janine is also qualified for her role and holds QCF Book keeping Level 1, AAT level 2 (Association of Accounting Technicians) and IAB certificates level 1 and 2 in Payroll Management. Once again, we are pleased to have Janine as part of our ever growing team.

Danielle O’Rourke

Traffic Management Planning/ Administration

Danielle joined the Total Resources team in 2014. She currently has responsibility for managing the on/off hires in the Traffic Management department alongside the daily administrative duties. With over 10 years customer service experience, Danielle brings extensive customer sector experience and organisational skills to the organisation.

Katie Bird

Receptionist/Accounts Assistant

Katy has recently joined the company in 2017. Covering all reception duties as well as supporting the accounts department at Head Office. Bringing over 15 years customer service experience, Katy has enhanced our office skills base.

Paul Meek

Supervisor

Very experienced all-rounder who has been around the tarmac/ asphalt industry for 25years graduating through all of the disciplinarians and is a much valued addition to the team. His knowledge of the industry is a great asset, having worked on the tools, he is fully conversant with every aspect of the tarmac/asphalt industry:-
